Scouting and Freemasonry have many features in common, including shared purpose and values. Many Freemasons were once Scouts, and many active Scouters are also Freemasons. It is likely that a good number of Freemasons will be attending the World Scout Conference as delegates from their National Scout Organisations (NSOs).
In the UK we have a particularly good relationship between Scouting and Freemasonry. Therefore, we will invite all Freemasons attending the conference to attend a special meeting of the Lodge of Unity, Peace & Concord No. 316 (EC) at the iconic Freemasons’ Hall in central London on Saturday, 27th November 2027.
The afternoon lodge meeting will be followed by an informative presentation on Scouting and Freemasonry and a buffet meal. We shall also be organising tours of Freemasons’ Hall in the morning of the same day.
While the lodge meeting is open only to Freemasons under Grand Lodges recognised by the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE), the tours, presentation and buffet meal are also open to those who are not Freemasons.
All who wish to attend are invited to complete an expression of interest at https://bit.ly/WSClodgeEofI . We will use this to seek confirmation of membership and to plan the event. In July 2027 a formal booking form will then be sent to all who have completed the expression of interest.
Any enquiries should be sent to Tony Harvey, the UK Scout Association’s National Liaison with Freemasonry, at tony.harvey@scouts.org.uk.
