Liaison to Scouts and Deputy Chairman of the KLA, Tony Harvey, was recently in Pennsylvania USA giving a presentation of Scouting and Freemasonry and was surprised and overwhelmed to receive the prestigious “Daniel Carter Beard Masonic Scouter Award.”
This award falls under the category of Scouting America’s “Community Organisation Award” and is made jointly by the Scouts and a Masonic jurisdiction in the United States of America to those who have given “outstanding service to youth and Freemasonry.” It is administered by the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania and was presented to me personally by that Grand Lodge’s Grand Master.
Tony was really delighted and said, … “I understand that I am only the second person outside of Scouting America (formerly Boy Scouts of America) to achieve the award. The first was the late Michael, Lord Baden-Powell, who was from Scouts Victoria, in Australia. Therefore, I believe I am the first person from the UK Scout Association to receive it.”
Congratulations to Tony, a great ambassador for two parallel organisations.
