Saturday 1st November at the National Memorial Arboretum saw a gathering of around 250 Provincial Grand Masters, Assistants, Standard Bearers & guests at the Masonic Memorial Garden to remember those Brethren no longer with us.
This symbolic gesture of respect with most Provinces coming together as one, laying a sea of red poppy wreaths resembling the images we see of Flanders Fields and the Cenotaph, was a happy but sombre gathering and as you would expect, followed by a very welcome lunchtime festive board.
This act of remembrance was appropriately organised by Metropolitan Grand Lodge, inviting the KLA to lay a wreath on behalf of the Scouts and we responded with a small delegation of KLA members and partners supporting W Bro. Tony Harvey laying the wreath.
What was delightful was the fact that we received a special invitation to attend from Metropolitan Grand Lodge and being in uniform we were a bit of a magnet to enquiring PGMs asking about the KLA and Scout themed lodges.
