Three generations of family members

On Friday the 16th September Brownsea Island Lodge 9689 initiated its newest member Sam Witt, making three generations of family members in Dorset Freemasonry. Being the son of Clinton Witt and the grandson of Terry Witt, Sam is no stranger to Freemasonry and following a recent career change felt the time was right to experience the true values of Ancient Freemasonry.

The ceremony was definitely a family occasion with the Master, Paul Root, allowing Clinton to take the Chair to perform the ceremony of initiation. Other parts of the ceremony were aptly delivered by members of Sam’s direct family with Terry investing Sam with the apron of an Entered Apprentice Freemason. Adrian Witt (Sam’s Uncle) presented the working tools and Shaun Tarrant (Sam’s Brother in Law) delivered the charge after initiation.

Sam is now the sixth member of the family to join Brownsea Island Lodge, which meets at Wareham.

It is also noteworthy that Sam is now a retained Fire Fighter at Ferndown. Not only did he complete his basic training on the day of his initiation he is also under the leadership of Mike Parkes!
